Pickle FAQ:

How many pickles come in a jar?

The number of pickles that come in a jar depends on the size of the cucumber, but on average there are around 16 pickles in each 32 oz jar and around 30 pickle slices in each 16 oz jar. Regardless of size, we pack the jars with as many pickles as we can fit! You’ll never see empty space in the jar where we could have fit more pickles.

How do you get them so crunchy?

There are a lot of precautions that we take to make them so crisp, but the single most important thing is never compromising when it comes to the quality of ingredients and making sure we get the freshest cucumbers we can find.

How long do they last?

They’ll last as long as it takes you to eat them as long as all of the product inside of the jar is submersed in the brine. If one of the pickles is sticking out above the brine and it sits like that for several months it can develop mold. Otherwise they won’t go bad. We do, however recommend eating them within one year of when they were made. The date that they were made is stamped on the jar. After one year they will start to degrade in quality and become less crunchy.

Are they vegan?

All of our pickles are vegan except for our Jalapeño Honey Dills.

Are they gluten free?

All of our pickles are gluten free except for the pickles in our Briners & Brewers series.

Do they need to be refrigerated?

Only after they have been opened. Until then they are safe to be stored in a cool, dark place.

Which one is your “regular dill”?

The Caraway Garlic Dills is the closest thing we make to a traditional dill pickle.

Can you eat the extra stuff in the jars?

Yes! With just a little bit of creativity you can use everything in the jar. Check our Recipes page for some great recipe ideas.

Are these made with preservatives or other weird ingredients?

Nope, we do not use any ingredients that you would not recognize from your own pantry or garden. Check out the list of ingredients on the “Nutrition & Ingredients Tab” tab.

Are these fermented?

No they are preserved using a vinegar-based brine.

Are these family recipes?

No family recipes. We create every recipe from scratch!

Where do the cucumbers come from?

Depending on the time of year they may come from Colorado, California, Florida, Georgia, Mexico, Michigan, or wherever we can find the best quality cucumbers at the time.

Why do you put sugar in your dill pickles?

We use a marginal amount of sugar because it helps to create a roundness with the salt and vinegar, helping to make those flavors a little less harsh and pronounced. We only add a marginal amount of sugar to those varieties; most people do not even detect any sweetness.

What is the Briners & Brewers series?

The Briners & Brewers Series is a collaborative series that emerged from our love for craft food & beer. For each release we partner with a craft brewery to make a pickle based off of one of their beers. Utilizing not a single drop of beer, but rather the same raw ingredients used to make the beer, the result is a product that creatively marries the crafts of brewing & brining.

What is the Seasonal series?

Driven by creativity, we present our seasonal series. When it comes to seasonal ingredients the window for applying that creativity closes fast. So we make a single batch, preserving at the peak of freshness. Each jar is hand-numbered, indicating the number of the jar and the number of total jars produced.

Bloody Mary Mix FAQ:

How long will this last?

Unopened, it is good for one year from when it was made. The date that it was made will be stamped on the jar. After it has been opened the 32 oz jars should last at least three months in the fridge, if not longer. We recommend using the 64 oz growlers within one month of opening it.

Does it need to be refrigerated?

Only after they have been opened. Until then they are safe to be stored in a cool, dark place.

Is it vegan?

Yes it is vegan!

Is it gluten free?

Yes.

How many Bloody Marys can I make with one jar?

It depends on what size glass you are using but you should be able to make 4-8 Bloody Marys with the 32 oz jar and 8-16 with the 64 oz growler.

Is it really spicy?

It definitely has a little bit of a kick, but it will not light your mouth on fire. If you can handle just a little bit of heat you should be fine with it. If you like it spicier you can always add hot sauce or fresh chiles and if you like it less spicy you can cut it with tomato juice to dilute the spiciness a bit.

How do I make a Bloody Mary?

There are many ways to make a great Bloody Mary. We have a number of recipes on our Recipes page that you can check out. If you make up a great recipe please let us know about it!

Can I use it with something other than Vodka?

Yes, our favorite spirit to mix with it is Tequila. It also goes great with beer, gin, whisky and scotch. Check out our Recipes page for some recipes.

Does this come with vodka already in it?

No.

Can I drink this on its own - without adding vodka?

Absolutely! Many people just drink it without adding anything to it. It’s a really delicious vegetable juice or alternative to V8.

Are these made with preservatives or other weird ingredients?

Nope, we do not use any ingredients that you would not recognize from your own pantry or garden. Check out the list of ingredients on the “Nutrition & Ingredients Tab” tab.

What is cucumber water?

It’s filtered water that has been infused with fresh cucumbers.

Do you make it or is it made by a contractor?

We do not contract out any production. We make everything in our own facility (called the Dillery) in Denver, Colorado.
